Day 43: Emotional goal

It's that time of year again in FP4H that we set goals:  intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical.

I don't have much of a problem setting physical goals (Lose 10 lbs, daily exercise, continue C25k), or spiritual goals (daily bible study in the am,  time in God's word in the pm), or intellectual goals (continue cooking focus by learning/developing 1 new recipe a week), but I always struggle with the emotional goal.

It just feels like that is something I don't have control over, you know?  "I won't get angry this session."  "I will slow down and take it easy".

But I actually have a goal this time:  joy.

Nehemiah 8:10 says that "the joy of the Lord is your strength".

1 Peter 1:8 "Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy..."

James 1:2:  "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials...."

John 15:11: "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete."

So my "joy goal" is going to be to look for and record the joy God brings daily, and to see it--in the good and the bad, tough times and happy ones.

Today's joy:  special, peaceful, prolonged time in God's word hearing His voice this am.
