Day 13: Just plain sweat

The sweat of working out, that is.  Did day 1 of Couch to 5k (again), and also walked 2 miles.  Now sitting here sweating while chicken and asparagus are almost on the grill...then open house tonight.  I could be wrong, but I think the open house in the evening will be easier, since at that point we'll have eaten dinner, and it will be the end of the day.

Tried a couple of fun recipes:

Roasted Onions:

Green onions tossed with a tiny amount of olive oil and sprinkled with Rosemary
Roasted for 5 minutes a side.
Great, but not for the faint-hearted.

Grilled Asparagus:
Asparagus is marinated in olive oil, lemon, balsamic vinegar, 1/4 tsp sugar (for carmelizing), and Janes crazy mixed up salt.  Then grill as usual.  Asparagus is crisp and flavorful, not mushy.

If  you're looking for recipes, I'm a big fan of Cook's magazine.  It's primarily black and white, but gives you several recipes.  The best part?  They "test drive" several versions of cooking a recipe, several marinades, several temperatures, etc--all so I don't have to!

Website-wise, I like foodnetwork.com, and smittenkitchen.com.

Happy weekend, all!
